I have a Krups XP5020 consumer semi-automatic Espresso Machine. It has served me well for over a year. But I am toying with the idea of upgrading to a better semi-automatic like a Gaggia or such-like. And yet I balk at paying for a new one. Does anyone know where I can get a good second-hand machine? And maybe a grinder? At an affordable price? Thank you.

Percolator, French press, Automatic, semi automatic? Something I haven't heard of, perhaps? I just bought a manual (stovetop) percolator and by the taste of it, it makes pretty good espresso with super easy cleanup for $10.00 Canadian! Makes me wonder why people spend up to $4000 on fully or semi automatic machines. Of course, some day I will have one of those pretty doodads on my countertop but until then, this percolator works good for me! What is your opinion?

I've got a budget of $1000 total. I've been researching on the net for the past few weeks and I know I want a semi-automatic and a burr grinder. I've worked at several coffee shops in the past so I'm familiar with the big industrial size machines but I'm not sure how those compare to the consumer machines.
