Why do hotels always have crappy little kettles which take ages to boil?
I was just thinking about all the times I have stayed in hotels and I notice they ALWAYS have tiny kettles in the rooms. These kettles always take ages to boil. For instance the hotel I stayed in last night, had provided me with a kettle which was 700 watt, and took about 10 minutes to boil. What advantage is there to the hotel , in doing this? - I have always wondered.

they're cheap and can't be bothered to look for a better kettle
Feel lucky you get to stay in a hotel. I would love 2 long days away from what the hell i have to live thought, I wouldn't care if it took 2 hours to boil If that's all I had to worry about Life would be great. Big deal Rich man
Nice kettles would get stolen way more often.
Just think of the fun you'd be missing! There you are, poor overworked and underloved rep, miles from home in the middle of nowhere in your Novotel room. Fancy a cuppa? Yay, that will kill 2 hours! You can sit and listen to the subtlety of the sloooow cacophony of bubbles as they build to their inexorable climax... oooh, mercy! You can listen to the evening birdsong outdoors (if your windows aren't hermetically sealed) - you can even be excused watching the One Show at 7pm on BBC1! And at the end, just before bedtime - a nice cup of tea. Life doesn't get much better. ;)
