How come the more expensive home heater paper filters do not plug up as fast the fiberglass filters?
The paper filters are supposed to filter more than a fiberglass filter of the same size. I would think the filter that plugs up first is doing so because it filters more.

the better ones are pleated giving it 3 times the length actually. if you stretch it out, you ll see much more area

PERHAPS? THE MORE (HARDER) THAT RETURN VENT HAS TO PULL THE MORE YOUR
UNIT HAS TO WORK AND HOTTER IT GETS AND FASTER IT WILL WEAR OUT.

THOSE SUPER DUPER FILTERS TRAP MORE BUT THAT UNIT WORKS FAR MORE STRESSFUL TO DRAW RETURN AIR BACK.. LIKE YOUR OWN LUNGS... WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD COLD YOUR NOSE IS ALL CLOGGED UP AND TO GET AIR YOU BREATHE THRU YOUR MOUTH. YOUR UNIT CAN'T DO THAT -- NO ALTERNATE AIR FLOW BUT THRU THAT RETURN AND FILTER.

BETTER TO USE MEDIUM PRICE FILTER AND CHANGE OFTEN..
SAVES UNIT.
