Try Target or Walmart, should be able to find a reasonably priced one there.
Dosen't matter how good or cheap the machine is if you don't have the right tasting coffee.
Try Ebay.com

Or you can go to yard sales. I got one at a yard sale for $3!
I love my Espressione Cafe Retro. I've had it three years with no trouble and use it every day. I use the Illy espresso pods (which I buy at Williams Sonoma for $11/18 pods). I believe the machine was around $350. Previously we had a professional machine, which my husband took to his bar so there was a lot to live up to. I bought it on line after lots of research. I am VERY happy!
I highly reccomend the Tassimo machine, I have had one for a year and it's all I use. It's a machine that makes espresso, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, latte, and cappichino. I use mine everyday for all different drinks. I love being able to offer people their choice of coffee, tea, espresso, latte etc. It makes one cup at a time, and it's super fast, I can myself a tea and 2 minutes later have a latte ready for someone else. Then 2 more minutes have the best hot chocolate ever made!

The best part of it all? It's cheaper then most machines that only do one or two of the things this machine can do!

Check it out at www.tassimo.com

I also found a youtube video for yea showing what it does, trust me if you got this machine you would love it!

when u saw Tassimo, it's like a joke. if i use that to make espresso, i would kill myself.
the good machine is starbucks barista, made by saeco, the saeco name i can't recall it.
nice handle, really really good espresso extraction. down side is the steaming pressure.
which u can buy at starbucks. costs 300 ~400 after u buy the pitcher, shot glass and stuff.

now i changed my starbucks barista to starbucks serina. designed by bmw, costing around 700 dollars after all. commercial grade handle, powerful steaming system. just a bit expensive.
if u enjoy making those drinks, do buy a semi automatic. never buy fully auto or auto machine. first it has no fun, second, it can never ever make milk the way u want.

it is really long journey for me to get controll how to steam with home machine (which i worked at coffee shop), but it's really nice at the end.
Your question is like asking, which is great: a truck, a bus, or a motorcycle.

Go to www.wholelattelove.com

They have much information about espresso machines.

From my experience, here are the important things to know:

1. The coffee bean is the most important. For great espresso, you have to get the best beans, freshly roasted, typically from specialty coffee stores. NOT THE SUPERMARKET.

2. The next most important thing is the bean grinder. This will cost between $200 and $800. Being able to produce a fine and consistent powder is very important.

3. Finally, you need a good machine.

A very popular combination is the Rancilio Rocky grinder with the Rancilio Silvia machine. Total is about $850.

If you don't want to spend at least $800, then I would advise on a Nespresso machine.
