Why do a lot of drip coffe makers not let the water through the filter basket and overflow for us?
We have had at least three drip coffee makers that have overflowed. Some were even new. The coffee would go into the filter basket and never go out into the carafe and eventually overflow. We have one now that doesn't have a carafe, but stays in the container until you place a cup under it, but would like to find out why we have had this problem with more than one brand.

is the coffee ground for drip coffee maker. If its ground too fine it will clog the filter.
maybe:
the spout from the filter-basket gets clogged with coffee grounds, or the carafe isn't positioned properly against the lever-plug.
If your coffee is ground too coarse it may be floating up and over the side of the filter then clogging the hole in the bottom of your basket. The basket will not be able to drain and will overflow. Get your coffee ground finer, get filters with higher sides or put an additional filter on top of the grounds to keep them from floating.
