I can't remember...its been a long time since I have had percolated coffee...my grandmother used to make it and I remember I loved it....I didn't even know they still made those.....!! I'll have to look into that....I love my coffee
That is so funny you said that! 99% of the coffee I drink at home is from a peculator and I LOVE it!!!! We have a Bun coffee maker and I like it but NOTHING compares to a peculator!!!! Well, except dunkin but if you buy dunkin grounds and put THAT in a peculator... you're not going to want to dislodge the cup from your hand for a good week. It's so good. I've been telling a girl at work to get one for about a year now.
drip coffee sucks, i miss my tassimo discs!
Your right about that, it's just the coffee makers are so much more convenient with the timers on them so that when you get up it's ready to pour. I just bought a enameled campfire style percolator to keep in our disaster supplies. We were without power for 14 days after hurricane Ike and we cooked (our kitchen is electric)and made coffee and everything else by using camping gear.
Absolutely NOT. Percolated coffee is dreck, swill, nasty overcooked and reboiled stuff that just is wrong. The best coffee is made with a proper drip device, that gets the water to the boiling temperaters and delivers it to the grounds while still over 200F. Very few drip machines can do it correctly, but the ones that do are excellent. Even a marginal drip machine is better then percolated.
Try putting Starbusks in a percolator. It destroys it so badly,it smells like fish oil. The is the smell of RANCID, overcooked coffee oils. The cheapo coffees do no smell like that because there is not enough aromatic oils in the cheap coffee to do it. That is a fault, not a feature. Coffe is not meant to be reboiled constantly liek it is in the percolator.

Yes, I agree. I have a percolator that I take camping with me and make coffee right on the campfire.
